Is Happiness something that can only be pursued?

When Will smith uttered these lines in Pursuit of Happiness he actually was questioning a truth that we all have faced at some point in our lives. Most of us have really felt happiness around us during the moments when we have achieved things/p that we were pursuing for a long time, things and emotions that we crave for.But once they are ours and the desire has ended , they loose their meaning and slowly and steadily become a part of your achievements, rather than things that can give you happiness.Probably its the fantasy ,the excitement just before getting IT that what we actually enjoy.
If asked a question "WHAT ARE WE ALL LOOKING FOR?",my answer would be "Self Satisfaction".It is this feeling that we term as happiness or may be happiness is the name that we give to the expression of this feeling.
"Man can never be satisfied" is a universal truth and perhaps the only reason why things keep on changing(whether for better or worse).
Different people in this world have different reasons for happiness.Perhaps Hitler was more than happy after the mass killing of Jews across Europe.May be Bhagat Singh shared the same feeling just before he was hanged .Who knows????

May be we have set so many goals for future that we are cannot afford to enjoy the few moments of happiness that we get as a gifts from something called life.May be we are so concerned with larger than life things and bigger achievements that we tend forget all the smaller things and achievements that can bring happiness to us.Things that are small but are closer to us.
I have observed that in most of the cases long lasting happiness comes from feelings that are associated with others. After all ,you need people to share your happiness with and if there are none, it vanishes very quickly(or you might never experience it).
Somebody has rightly said"When you try to hold happiness in your hands it looks so small but its only when you allow it spread around that you realise the true size and value of it"
I know that if everybody gets satisfied and complacent ,everything in this world will seize to move but we can at least"Enjoy what we have while desiring what we don't" as said by a famous writer.Probably thats the only option in order to Stay Alive.

Gautam Buddha once said that happiness is somethin that can be achieved when one gives up all the desires.

Unfortunately, the desire is the sole force that has been driving the "Human Race".

Happiness according to me is something or a state when a man learns to accept himself as it is. Probably that is the only reason that someone said "true happinessis to be found within oneself"

Now it may sound strange to you but I find support of this line of thinking after seeing people getting drunk. Alcohol makes their inhibitions go and they now see themselves as they are...And this is exactly why we all keep coming back to alcohol or rather should I say like alcohol.

PS: This is not to promote consumption of liquor.

hmm...very aptly written about desire for happiness...happiness is something which we all have around but rarely aprreciate it...as Helen Keller said ~ "Many people have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose."

The eternal question remains that what do we really want from life?money or love or any other things, which can give us eternal happiness. The answer depends on each person's perspective,on how he sees this world. One can be easily satisfied with 20,000/pm,while his close friend may be equally frustrated with a pay packet of 50,000/-pm.

Someone, somewhere in the world can be so frustrated, that he might call his own survival a great achievement in itself, let alone monetary or other achievements.

The more one craves for a certain thing, the more it tries to elude him.But one has to understand that there's nothing as such called "perfection".Everybody(& I mean bloody everybody) has their own faults. You have to accept as they are, with their faults.

That is an achievement, when u get everything in life which u crave for.Mental peace is the key to everything.U have to be happy with yourself & then only you can be truly happy.

Ar at this point of my life,I personally(don't know about the others) cannot describe what is true achievement.Maybe after 20-30 years, when I wud have hopefully settled down, then I can analyze my whole life, look back at it,at the opportunities that came my way & the way i grabbed them...then only I can say that whether or not i have achieved something in life...money is not everything....sometimes hoyto tui prochur sukhe achhish,taka-poysha,gf & all.....but deep down within you, there might b a feeling that shur-ta kothaye jeno kete jachhe...it happens..it happenes with almost everybody out here.Achievement is when you will be happy with yourself, when you have realized all your dreams, when you feel the eternal bliss within yourself......your mental satisfaction will let you know that yes,you have really achieved something..[:)]

Well....I know I have bored you all by now!![:P]..

Well this one is really an intriguing question!!....but then if it could have been actually pursued then it would also have been achieved by many….but still we find every body unsatisfied with one thing or the other….the pitfalls getting more importance than the small achievements of every day life….but i guess one can be truly happy if one starts in believing that happiness isn't getting what u want but wanting what u got....coz, when u are actually happy, u shouldn’t say, “God is in my heart,” but rather, “I am in the heart of God”….

i loved the pic quote...maybe happiness really is some sort of a butterfly...which flutters by the moment you want to catch it...
